Meet the Mayor and Council

The City Council is the governing body of the City because Louisville is a home rule City operating under a council-manager form of government. The Mayor is elected at-large and two council members are elected from each of the City's three wards, each to a four-year term.

How to contact the Mayor and Council Members

Note: Emails sent to City Council are public records. If you use the "Email Entire City Council" link, your message will also go to the City Manager, the Deputy City Manager, and the "Open Records" mailbox. These emails can be seen by the public. The City Manager’s Office often replies to emails sent to the whole City Council, and the Council will get a copy of that reply. If you email about a City Council agenda item, your message will become part of the public record at the meeting. Posts made on the City’s social media pages about City business or certain legal matters will not be part of the public record.

City Council emails are public records and may be viewed by others. If you have questions about these records or the rules about open records, please email the City Clerk's Office or call (303) 335‑4519.
