Learn about utility bills

The Finance Department manages billing for water, sewer, trash, recycling, and composting services. Email Customer Service at customerservice@Louisvilleco.gov or call (303) 335-4501 with any billing, rate or meter reading questions.

Utility fees

Fee Amount Description
Delinquent Fee $5.00 plus 1% of the delinquent amount

Charged to any account that remains unpaid for 60 days from the date of the bill.
Red Tag Fee $15.00

Charged to any account that remains unpaid for 60 days from the date of the bill. City personnel are required to manually post a red "shut off notice" on the door of the property. This is a final notice before actual shut off of water.
Reconnect Charge $25.00 - $100.00

When delinquent amounts have been paid and City personnel reinstate service, reconnect fees will be charged as follows:

  • First occurrence
    • $25 - During normal business hours
    • $50 - After hours
  • Second occurrence:
    • $50 - During normal business hours
    •  $75 - After hours
  • Subsequent occurrences:
    • $75 - During normal business hours
    • $100 - After hours
Rejected/Returned Payment Service Fee $25.00

Charged when a check, automatic payment, or debit/credit card is not accepted or rejected by your bank. If the payment was made to avoid service shut off, your account will still be subject to immediate shut off. A reconnect charge will also be charged.
Voluntary Disconnect/Reconnect Fee $25.00 Charged if you choose to disconnect your water. Your full account balance, this $25 fee, and a signed request form are required to turn off your water. Fees and documents must be submitted a week in advance. A reconnect fee of $25 will be charged when you choose to turn your water service back on.
Final Bill/Transfer Fee $25.00 Charged to seller's account when the property is sold and transferred to a new owner.

Users outside of the City limits: Charges for users outside of the City limits will be double the rate for users inside the City limits for both water and sewer.

0 - 5,000 $24.06 (minimum monthly charge)
5,001 - 20,000 $24.06 for the first 5,000 gallons, plus $6.95 for each additional 1,000 gallons (or fraction thereof)
20,001 - 30,000 $128.31 for the first 20,000 gallons, plus $17.06 for each additional 1,000 gallons (or fraction thereof)
30,001 - 40,000 $300.91 for the first 30,000 gallons, plus $18.64 for each additional 1,000 gallons (or fraction thereof)
40,001 - 50,000 $487.31 for the first 40,000 gallons, plus $19.93 for each additional 1,000 gallons (or fraction thereof)
50,001 and over $686.61 for the first 50,000 gallons, plus $21.27 for each additional 1,000 gallons (or fraction thereof)
