In 2023, the City of Louisville was proud to be designated a Bee City USA® affiliate, recognizing the City's commitment to protecting pollinators and creating healthy habitats for bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and other beneficial insects.
Pollinators play an important role in our environment. They help plants reproduce, support local ecosystems, and contribute to the food we eat every day. Many flowering plants and crops depend on pollinators to thrive.
Louisville supports pollinators by planting native species, reducing pesticide use, improving habitat on public lands, and educating the community about pollinator-friendly practices. Through partnerships, programs, and ongoing stewardship, we are working to create a healthier environment for both wildlife and people.
