Parks and Open Space Permits
Planning an event, project, or activity in a Louisville park or Open Space? Find the permit you need for property access, private activities, special events, or boating.
Which permit do I need?
- Access permit: You or a contractor need to cross park or Open Space land to reach private property.
- Use permit: You are holding a private activity, class, camp, or event in a park or Open Space.
- Special event permit: Your activity meets the City's special event requirements, including certain events with more than 25 participants or 250+ people in a park.
- Harper Lake boat permit: You want to use a motorless boat on Harper Lake.
- Park shelter rental: You want to reserve a park shelter.
Access permits
If you or a contractor need to cross City park or Open Space land to access private property, an access permit is required.
Park & Open Space use permits
A use permit is required for certain private activities or events in a park or Open Space, including paid classes, live music, day camps, or private school field trips.
If you would like to utilize a park shelter you will need to rent a park shelter.
Special event permits
A Permitted Special Event Application is required for:
- Groups of more than 25 people using any City right-of-way, street or trail for an activity, including City-sponsored, nonprofit, school or commercial groups.
- Events hosting 250 or more attendees in any City park.
Harper Lake boat permits
Motorless boating is allowed on Harper Lake with an annual permit.
