Sustainability
About us
Louisville is committed to building a resilient, connected, and sustainable future for current and future generations. Sustainability in Louisville means thoughtfully balancing environmental stewardship, economic vitality, and social well-being while preserving the community character that makes Louisville unique. Through inclusive and community-driven action, we strive to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, strengthen climate resilience, protect natural resources, support a vibrant local economy, and create equitable opportunities for all who live, work, and visit here. Together, we are shaping a healthier, more adaptable, and thriving Louisville for generations to come.
In 2024 City Council strengthened our renewable energy and carbon emission reduction goals by setting science-based targets in Resolution NO. 18 Series 2024 for the years 2030 and 2050. These actions align with targets set forth in both our Internal Decarbonization Plan and Community Decarbonization Plan.
