Donate books

We love receiving book donations from our community. Here is what you need to know before you drop off.

What We Accept

We can accept up to two boxes of books per donation, including:

• Adult books
• Young Adult books
• Children's books
• Textbooks

For large donations (more than 2 boxes), please contact us to make arrangements before dropping off.

What We Do Not Accept

Due to space and demand, we are unable to accept:

• Books on CD
• Music CDs
• DVDs
• Videocassettes
• Audio cassettes
• Magazines

Where to Drop Off

Bring your donation to the Circulation Desk in the lobby. We will give you a thank-you and a tax receipt for your records.

A Note About Donated Materials

Donated books are considered gifts and become the property of the Louisville Public Library Foundation. This means the library decides how donated items are used, whether that is adding them to the collection, selling them, or passing them along to other organizations.
