Easy readers

Easy Readers are books designed specifically for children who are just learning to read. They use simple, controlled vocabulary, meaning a limited number of carefully chosen words that are easy to sound out and recognize.

Easy Readers also feature:

  • Large type
  • Short sentences
  • Simple vocabulary
  • Predictable text placement
  • Extra white space between lines
  • Repetition of words and phrases
  • Pictures that give clues to the words

These features work together to make reading feel achievable and fun for beginning readers.
