As a home rule city with a council-manager form of government, the City Council is the governing body of the City. The City Charter lays out the rules and regulations under which the City operates. The Mayor is elected at-large. Two council members are elected from each of the City's three wards, each to a four-year term.

Historical Museum

Louisville has a story worth knowing — and the Historical Museum is where you can become part of it. Located on Main Street in Louisville's historic downtown, the Museum invites guests to explore three historic buildings, browse exhibits, and take informal tours. The Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department oversees all open space, parks, the Klubert Warembourg Fishing Pond, ball fields, landscaping, and mowing operations, in addition to the Coal Creek Golf Course and the Louisville Recreation & Senior Center. In addition, our department maintains the Louisville Cemetery, the Sports Complex, Harper Lake, the Arboretum, and all City bike paths.
